Write in a Click keeps a science fiction novel's rules, terms and future history beside the draft, and lets you check real science without leaving the book. Robin, your story partner, reads every chapter and your Story Hub, and on Premium and Pro can search the web and show its sources. Robin never changes your manuscript on its own. In Edit Mode it can suggest changes, and nothing lands unless you keep it.
The science fiction scholar Darko Suvin called the genre's defining element the novum: the new thing — a technology, a discovery, a changed society — that the story's world is built around. Much of what readers value in the genre comes from following that change through honestly. If minds can be copied, who owns the copy? If nothing travels faster than light, how long does a message home take, and who is left to read it?
Hard science fiction keeps the novum inside known science and shows its working. Softer traditions and space opera give themselves more room and spend it on scale, politics or adventure. Either way, readers expect internal consistency. Once you have said what the drive can't do, the plot can't quietly let it.
The genre's familiar trap is exposition. Readers have to understand the world without sitting through a lecture. Most writers handle it by revealing rules through consequence and conflict, and by cutting the "as you know" dialogue in which characters explain things they both already know.
Ask Robin a real-world question in the Research workspace. With web search it shows where the answer came from. Save a card only after you have checked it.
Story World for how the technology works and what it costs, Glossary for invented terms, Timeline for the centuries between now and your story.
Estimated Opening hook, Closing hook, Pacing, Tension and Emotional resonance for a chapter, with the weakest area named. A preview before your first readers. Premium.
Hear a chapter read back to you. Premium includes 300 minutes a month and Pro 1,200; Free can preview the voices.
On Pro, a series keeps reading order, per-book summaries and a series description Robin reads when you write the next book.
Every Write in a Click writer gets Your Site at writeinaclick.com/@yourname, built from the books already in your account. The Fantasy & sci-fi style is deep and atmospheric, for fantasy, sci-fi and long series. SEO & AEO by Robin, included free.
Robin can help you look things up. On Premium and Pro it can search the web and show its sources, and it can tell you what your own chapters have established. It is not a physicist, and it can be wrong, so check anything your plot depends on against a source you trust.
Yes, as a place to write and keep your working: rules in Story World, terms in Glossary, research saved as cards with its sources. The rigour is yours; Write in a Click keeps it organised and lets you ask about it.
Two ways. Run Reader Pulse (Premium) and look for chapters where the Pacing and Tension estimates both dip, and listen to suspect scenes with read-aloud. Then ask your beta readers where they skimmed.
On Pro, yes: create a series, set the reading order and keep a series description Robin reads for each later book. Free and Premium keep each book with its own Story Hub.
Try Write in a Click free — no credit card required. Your whole book in one home, with Robin when you want help. Your story, your rules.
