    Show Robin How You Write, Once

    A writing voice in Write in a Click is a profile built from samples of your own prose. You create it in the Voice Library, add samples of at least 700 words each, ideally 1,500 to 3,000 (at least three samples, up to 20), labelled by kind (narrative prose, dialogue-heavy, first person and so on), and attach it to a book in Book Settings. From then on, Robin reads that voice before it answers about the book, so its advice fits the way you write rather than the way a textbook does. Free plans have 1 voice, Premium 3, Pro unlimited.

    Why This Matters

    Every piece of writing advice assumes a default writer. The short sentences are too short, the long ones too long, the present tense a choice to justify. A voice profile removes the default. It tells Robin what normal looks like for you, so the questions it asks and the things it flags start from your style, not somebody else's.

    How It Works

    Open the Voice Library

    Go to Voices and press "Add Voice". Give it a name and fill in Voice Details: description, audience, style and tone.

    Add writing samples

    Paste a passage into "Add New Sample", choose a category, and repeat. Aim for at least three, each at least 700 words and ideally 1,500 to 3,000.

    Attach it to a book

    In the book's Settings, the Voice card has a "Narrative Voice" field. Pick the voice that book is written in.

    Ask Robin

    Robin now reads the voice along with your chapters and Story Hub whenever you ask it something about the book.

    Building a voice

    The Voice Library, at Voices, holds every voice you have made. A new account starts with "No voices yet" and a "Create Your First Voice" button. Each voice has three parts: Voice Details (name, description, audience, style and tone), Writing Samples, and a box to add a new one.

    Samples are where the profile comes from. Each has an optional title and a category: Narrative Prose, which is the primary kind, Dialogue-Heavy, Emotional High, Emotional Low, First Person POV, Third Person POV, or a custom label of your own. Each sample should be at least 700 words; 1,500 to 3,000 is the sweet spot. The app asks for at least three samples, suggests five to ten, and asks for at least 5,000 words in total, which it tracks at the top of the page. It marks any sample under 700 words, and a voice holds up to 20 samples.

    Variety matters more than volume. Three chapters of the same quiet scene describe one mood. A fight, a love scene and a chapter opening describe a writer.

    One voice per book, several per writer

    Voices belong to you, and books borrow them. In Book Settings, the Voice card says "Assign a narrative voice for this book", with a link to manage your library. Most writers need one voice. Writers with a pen name, a second genre, or a ghostwriting client need more, and that is where plan limits come in: 1 voice on the free plan, 3 on Premium and unlimited on Pro.

    What the voice changes

    Robin, your story partner, reads the attached voice before it answers about the book, along with the chapters the question needs and your Story Hub. When you ask whether a chapter opening works, the answer takes your usual sentence length and tone as given, instead of nudging you toward a generic middle.

    Nothing Robin suggests lands in your text until you accept it.

    The Proofing Pass reads your voice too. It is told to respect your voice rather than a rulebook, and in fiction it does not flag contractions or fragments inside your characters' dialogue.

    What It Does Not Do

    • There is no voice report to read. The profile is used by Robin and is not shown back to you as scores or a summary.
    • A voice profile does not update itself as you write. To change it, add or remove samples.
    • A voice holds up to 20 samples.
    • The recommendations for sample length and count are guidance, not requirements. A thin voice still works, but Robin has less to go on.

    No. By default Robin gives advice only. The voice profile is there so the advice fits the way you already write. Any change Robin suggests in Edit Mode lands only if you press Keep.
