    Seven Formats, Every Plan, No Lock-In

    Write in a Click exports a whole book from File > Export to seven formats: PDF Document, Word Document, EPUB, MOBI (Kindle), AZW3 (Kindle), Plain Text and Markdown. Every plan, including the free one, gets all seven. Exports run in the background and land in your Jobs panel. It does not export RTF, and the standard PDF is an A4 reading copy, not a paperback interior at a trim size.

    Why This Matters

    A manuscript that cannot leave is not really yours. Agents want Word, ebook stores want EPUB, readers on old Kindles want MOBI, and your backup wants plain text. You should not have to pay to take your own book with you, so export is on every plan.

    In the book's menu bar. Pick one of the seven formats.

    Choose a theme, if you have one

    PDF and EPUB can use an export theme from the Ink store. Without one, the book exports in the standard style.

    Let it run

    A toast says "Export Started" and the file is built in the background, so you can keep writing.

    Download from Jobs

    The finished file waits in the Jobs panel. It is yours to send, upload or archive.

    Which format for which job

    Word Document (.docx) is the one to send to an agent, an editor or a publisher, because it is what they will mark up. EPUB is the reflowable ebook format most stores take, and the one to use for Apple Books, Kobo and most distributors. MOBI and AZW3 are the older Kindle formats, useful for side-loading a draft onto your own Kindle to read it the way a reader will. PDF is a fixed layout: good for printing a review copy or sending something that must look the same everywhere. Plain Text and Markdown are for backups and for moving the words into any other tool.

    The Publish page for each book offers the same four you are most likely to need, EPUB, PDF, Word and plain text, as a single card called "Make it real".

    What the standard PDF looks like

    The standard PDF is set on A4 paper with 2 cm margins in Georgia. That makes it a clean reading and review copy. It is not a print interior at a bookshop trim size such as 5 × 8 inches, and it does not add bleed, so if you are preparing a paperback you will still need to lay the interior out for your printer.

    Getting a manuscript in

    Moving in is the same promise in reverse. "Import / Upload Book" takes Word (.doc and .docx), EPUB, RTF, ODT, MOBI, AZW3 and PDF files up to 50 MB, a Scrivener project zipped up, or a book brought over from Sudowrite. Google Docs and Notion can be linked and kept in sync: pushing from the book, pulling from the document, or both, with sync pausing to ask you whenever the two disagree. Nothing is overwritten silently.

    Series, too

    On Pro, a whole series exports in one go from the series page: an omnibus with every book in one file, or a ZIP bundle with one file per book, in EPUB, PDF, DOCX, plain text or Markdown.

    What It Does Not Do

    • There is no RTF export. RTF files can be imported, but not exported.
    • The standard PDF is A4 with 2 cm margins. It is not a paperback interior at a trim size.
    • Exports do not embed a cover image.
    • You export the whole book. There is no option today to pick chapters.
    • Audiobook production and ISBNs are marked "Coming soon" on the Publish page.
    • Plain text and Markdown files cannot be imported.

    Is the export ready for Amazon KDP?

    For an ebook, EPUB is the format to upload. For a paperback, not yet: the standard PDF is A4 with 2 cm margins, so you will need to prepare a trim-size interior separately.

    Is export really free?

    Yes. Exporting your book is not gated by plan. The only paid extra is an optional export theme for PDF and EPUB, bought with Ink.

    Can I import my existing manuscript?
