Ada Whitlock writes quiet novels about loud feelings. She grew up above her grandmother's haberdashery on the Yorkshire coast and still writes the first draft of everything by hand, at the same kitchen table.
Her books have been called "patient, exact and quietly devastating". She is working on a fourth.
